What's going on Tuesday?

Songs of Leonard Cohen

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Celebrating Leonard Cohen @ Music Hall of Williamsburg
The late, great Leonard Cohen’s music will be celebrated in Brooklyn tonight with a very impressive lineup that includes Sonic Youth’s Lee Ranaldo, Okkervil River’s Will Sheff, singer/songwriter Josh Ritter, folk legend Richard Thompson, Patti Smith Group’s Lenny Kaye, and so many others (click the link above for more info). The show is sold out.

FINDING JOSEPH I: An Oral History of HR From Bad Brains. Book signing, film screening, & Q&A with HR @ Saint Vitus
Bad Brains were nominated for (but not inducted into) the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and there’s also a new documentary and book out about vocalist HR. That film will screen at Vitus tonight, and HR will also be there for a Q&A and a book signing.

Japanese Breakfast, Big Eyes, Long Beard @ Union Pool
Japanese Breakfast has a new album in the works (her first for Dead Oceans), and she’s hitting the road with shoegaze veterans later this year. Exciting stuff, but first she’ll play this intimate show with local punks Big Eyes and slowcore-ish songwriter Long Beard.

Pill, The Dreebs, Weeping Icon @ Baby’s All Right
Brooklyn’s skronky Pill released the sax-fueled Convenience last year. They play tonight with likeminded The Dreebs and Weeping Icon.

Michelle Shocked @ City Vineyard
City Winery operate City Vineyard out of Hudson River Park’s Pier 26. Socially-minded folk artist Michelle Shocked plays tonight as part of the intimate “Voices on the Hudson” series.

Willis Earl Beal, Greg Banks @ Knitting Factory Brooklyn
It’s been a while since we’ve heard from Chicago’s eccentric, pigeonhole-defying Willis Earl Beal who rarely puts on a boring show.

Shawn Colvin, Graham Nash @ City Winery
Shawn Colvin begins a three-night City Winery run tonight, each show with a different, very impressive guest. Tonight it’s rock icon Graham Nash.

SWEET w/ Seth Herzog @ The Slipper Room
Seth Herzog hosts this long-running comedy night that always features great guests.
