This is a first. In the nearly 15+ years of this BrooklynVegan's existence and doing daily round-ups of the night's best NYC-area shows...there are no shows. Not just no notable shows, none at all. No venues are open due to a joint agreement between NY, NJ and CT to limit crowd capacities to 50, close gyms, casinos, and movie theaters, and restrict restaurants and bars to take-out only as of today. Most major venues in the city had already closed as a precautionary measure, anyway.

Today is Saint Patrick's Day though no bars are open and there is no Saint Patrick's Day Parade. It's also the first time in 24 years that Dropkick Murphys aren't playing in front of an audience on the holiday; however, they're going to play a livestream-only show from Boston that you can watch via their YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and other social media tonight at 7 PM Eastern.

MORE LIVESTREAMS TODAY: Jeff Rosenstock / AJJ / Erica Freas / etc at 3:55 PM ET, Ben Gibbard at 7 PM ET.

UPDATE: Nowadays is streaming live every night from 8 PM-midnight until they're open again. On tonight's schedule: Ma Sha & Circe’s Hone Social CDJ 101 Workshop + DJing Afterward.

A little silver lining: you can order booze to go from restaurants and bars.

If that's not your style, The Met is hosting “Nightly Met Opera Streams” every day during its coronavirus closure. Each night is a different "complete operatic gem from our collection of HD presentations from the past 14 years." Each night's new opera begins streaming at 7:30 PM Eastern and will repeat through 3:30 PM the following day. Last night's was Bizet’s Carmen from a 2010 staging, and starting tonight at 7:30 it's Puccini’s La Bohème. Watch here

If you’re looking for more musical entertainment from the comfort of your own home, we picked 8 amazing live videos to watch while you’re home and every show is cancelled. Also, check out the latest album reviews in Notable Releases and Bill’s Indie Basement.

Meanwhile, stay safe, wash your hands often and, like Mel Brooks says in the video below, go home!
