You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Lost Girls (Jenny Hval & Håvard Holden) @ Brooklyn Bazaar
Jenny Hval and her longtime collaborator Håvard Volden released an EP as Lost Girls, Feelings, back in March, and now the project is making its North American live debut tonight.

Tyler Childers, Ona @ Brooklyn Bowl
Tyler Childers’ music hearkens back to ’70s country rock, and as good as his records are, he often comes across even better live.

The Velvet Underground Experience
It’s a three-floor exhibit on one of NYC’s greatest, most influential bands, featuring rare photos, films, and more. Today’s the opening day and the space’s designer, matali crasset, is offering a guided walkthrough at 5 PM which is included with admission.

La Force, Denitia @ Mercury Lounge
La Force is the solo project of Broken Social Scene vocalist Ariel Engle, and if you like BSS, there’s a good chance you’ll like her solo stuff too. She plays the early show at Mercury Lounge tonight, and then…

Joey Purp, Kami @ Mercury Lounge
…Chicago rapper Joey Purp plays the late show. He’s fresh off releasing his excellent new album QUARTERTHING, which has moments that recall triumphant, turn-of-the-millennium rap, moments that recall Chicago house, and more. Joey’s frequent collaborator Kami opens the show.

Modest Mouse, Tropical Fuck Storm @ The Wellmont Theater
It’s been a while since Modest Mouse have put out a new album, but they always stay busy on the road and their career-spanning live sets are always killer. Tonight’s a great double bill with Australia’s Tropical Fuck Storm, whose undefinable A Laughing Death In Meatspace is one of the year’s eccentric gems.

Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy, The Other Years @ Murmrr Theatre
While Will Oldham hasn’t released much new music as Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy (a single earlier this year) but with his records finally appearing on streaming services, we’re getting acquainted with the classics. Tonight’s his first of two Murmrr shows.

EXEK, Richard Papiercuts, Orion @ Saint Vitus Bar
With a dark-n-dubby aesthetic, Australia’s EXEK recall Metal Box-era PiL, The Pop Group and This Heat, and have a bleakly humorous worldview not dissimilar to The Intelligence and Spray Paint.

The Scientists, Des Demonas, The Art Gray Noizz Quintet @ Union Pool
Australian punk legends (and proto-grunge influencers) The Scientists are on their first-ever U.S. tour, which wraps up with this Union Pool show.

Every Time I Die @ Rocks Off Concert Cruises
Buffalo metalcore vets Every Time I Die being a five-show NYC run tonight, which includes three Rocks Off cruises and two Saint Vitus shows.

CJ Fly, Dessy Hinds, Dirty Sanchez & more @ Knitting Factory
While Joey Bada$$ remains the most popular member of Pro Era, other members have been starting to shine more and more and CJ Fly is no exception.

Mark Sultan (of King Khan and BBQ), The Mystery Lights @ Our Wicked Lady
Mark Sultan, who puts the sauce to the smoke in the King Khan & BBQ Show, has a new solo album titled Let Me Out which is out this week. He celebrates tonight with this show where he’ll be backed by The Mystery Lights.

Eagles @ Madison Square Garden
With Don Henley being the only original member left in The Eagles (though Joe Walsh and Timothy B Schmit have been in the group since the ’70s), the current lineup — which includes Vince Gill and Don Henley and Glenn Frey’s sons — bring their many hits to MSG.

Ray LaMontagne, Liza Anne @ Radio City Music Hall
With a heartfelt, dragged-through-an-ashtray vocal style, Ray Montagne has been laying his emotions bare for 15 years.

Sheer Mag, The Number Ones @ Music Hall of Williamsburg
Raucous garage-glam rockers Sheer Mag take MHOW tonight.

Springsteen on Broadway
The Boss continues his sold-out “Springsteen on Broadway” run at the Walter Kerr Theatre, which runs through December. At these shows, Bruce is giving fans shows “that are as personal and as intimate as possible.”

Captured Tracks, Mike Sniper, Meredith Graves @ Rough Trade
Captured Tracks Records is celebrating its 10th Anniversary this year and label head (and onetime Blank Dog) Mike Sniper will discuss the label’s history and future with onetime Perfect Pussy frontwoman Meredith Graves. 7 PM, free.
