Beastie Boys Book: Live and Direct at Kings Theatre
Beastie Boys book tour at Kings Theatre in 2018 (more by Dana Distortion)

What's going on Wednesday?

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Beastie Boys Story Told By Ad Rock & Mike D @ Kings Theatre
Expect these shows, where Mike D and Ad Rock tell stories about their time in Beastie Boys (with audio-visual accompaniment), to be similar — but different — to the “Beasties Book: Live and Direct” ones they did last year. Spike Jonze is directing these for a special to be released somewhere, sometime, TBA.

Hand Habits, Barrie, Tasha @ Bowery Ballroom
A secret weapon for Kevin Morby and Mega Bog, Meg Duffy has come into her own as Hand Habits, having just released her second album.

Songhoy Blues @ Baby’s All Right
Malian group Songhoy Blues kick off their Baby’s residency tonight — if you’ve never seen them, definitely correct this.

Mott the Hoople ’74, The Wallflowers @ Beacon Theatre
Glam vets Mott the Hoople are celebrating the 45th anniversary of their 1974 tour, and for the occasion, frontman Ian Hunter is reuniting with ’74-era members Ariel Bender and Morgan Fisher, which marks the first time the three of them have toured together since that year. Jakob Dylan’s still-active ’90s-era alt-rock band The Wallflowers open.

SSION, La’Fem Ladosha, Macy Rodman @ Elsewhere Hall
Last year, Cody Critcheloe’s dance-pop, video production, and more collective SSION released their first album in seven years, O, and it featured tons of big guests like Sky Ferreira, Roisin Murphy, Devendra Banhart, Ariel Pink, Royal Trux’s Jennifer Herrema, and more. The NYC-based band support the album with another hometown show tonight.

DonMonique, Christian Tokyo, Alicia Madison, QNA, The TK MAC Experience @ Bowery Electric
Brooklyn rapper DonMonique is still riding high off the strength of last year’s great Black Kate Moss EP, and she plays another hometown-area show tonight.

Arc Iris, Landlady’s Adam Schatz @ C’mon Everybody
Local chamber pop band are in residency at C’mon Everybody this month, and tonight’s guest is Landlady’s Adam Schatz.

Karina Rykman Experiment, Elijah Fox, Chris Tart (DJ Set) @ Rough Trade
In addition to playing bass in Marco Benevento’s band, Karina Rykman has been leading her own band Karina Rykman Experiment who will bring their groovy jams to Rough Trade tonight.

David Cross, Gary Gulman, Rosebud Baker, Aparna Nancherla, Maeve Higgins, Daniel Simonsen @ Murmrr Ballroom
Regular Comedy is presenting this show which has a pretty stacked bill, headlined by David Cross but with Aparna, Maeve and more.

Colleen Green, Degreaser, Guerilla Toss (DJ set) @ Mercury Lounge
Indie rock pop-punker Colleen Green plays this Mercury Lounge 25th Anniversary show.

Buster Poindexter @ Cafe Carlyle
David Johansen trades in his platforms for a smoking jacket and will keep things hot hot hot at fancy pants supper club Cafe Carlyle.
