What's going on Wednesday?

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Whitney @ Baby’s All Right
Whitney (featuring Max Kakacek and Julien Ehrlich of Smith Westerns) released their debut album earlier this year, a breezy, summer record indebted to the ’70s Laurel Canyon sound with a nice dose of horns. This is the final of their three NYC shows this week, and a midnight show at that.

Steely Dan @ Beacon Theatre
Steely Dan kick off their ten-show run at Beacon Theatre tonight by playing 1976’s The Royal Scam in full, along with “selected hits.” Some shows have album themes, others feature Rickie Lee Jones.

Still Corners, Foxes in Fiction @ Mercury Lounge
UK duo Still Corners released their third album, Dead Blue, last week and it’s another in their line of alluring, neon-lit synthpop mood pieces.

Caetano Veloso @ Town Hall
Brazilian musical legend (not to mention author and activist) Caetano Veloso is back in NYC for his first of two consecutive nights at Town Hall.

SALES, Harmony Tividad, Chaos Chaos @ Villain
One of the shows that had to relocate from Market Hotel while they try to get their liquor license, this indie pop bill features Florida duo SALES and Girlpool’s Harmony Tividad.

Peter Case @ Hill Country BBQ
Best known from his time in power pop / new wave band The Plimsouls (“A Million Miles Away”), Peter Case has veered more Americana in the years since, which makes him a great fit for Hill Country.

Bill Frisell @ Blue Note
An insanely talented guitarist who can play just about any style, Bill Frisell is a wonder to see perform. This week at Blue Note his show is called “When You Wish Upon a Star,” a tribute to the music of Walt Disney films, with help from That Dog’s Petra Haden, plus Eyvind Kang (viola), Thomas Morgan (bass) and Rudy Royston (drums).

Noname, Kemba, Topaz Jones, theMind @ Baby’s All Right
This is a great bill all around for rap fans. Chicago’s rising Chance the Rapper collaborator Noname headlines, and there’s also the always-solid Kemba (fka YC the Cynic), Montclair newcomer Topaz Jones, and Noname collaborator theMIND. Sold out.

Tonight’s Drake and Future show at Barclays Center has been postponed.

For laughs, check out the NYC Comedy calendar too.
