You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

clipping., Youth Code, World War @ Knitting Factory
While Daveed Diggs is a little more popular now thanks to his role in Hamilton, his Sub Pop-signed industrial rap group clipping. remains his most challenging project. It’s rap that’s heavy enough for metalheads to like, so it makes sense that tonight they play with EBM duo Youth Code, a guitar-less band who often end up on metal bills. This show was moved from Market Hotel (and is sold out).

Culture Abuse, Drug Church, neaux @ Saint Vitus
Noisy pop punks Culture Abuse are currently on the road with Touche Amore, but tonight they take a night off for a headlining show in Brooklyn. It’s with post-hardcore rippers Drug Church (same vocalist as Self Defense Family) and Sierra Kay’s new shoegazy band neaux.

“Secret Headliner,” “Surprise Intruders,” Stringer, Museum of Recycling @ Aviv
Aviv is closing at the end of the month, and tonight they host a show with two secret bands booked by the Shea Stadium people.

Steely Dan @ Beacon Theatre
Steely Dan are in the midst of their ten-show run at Beacon Theatre and tonight will play what is widely regarded to be their masterwork, Aja, in full…plus “selected other favorites.”

Temples, Vinyl Williams @ Bowery Ballroom
Having just played Desert Daze fest, UK psych-pop band Temples (whose new single is surprisingly synthy) hit NYC tonight.

Pond, Machete Western @ Music Hall of Williamsburg
Also here post-Desert-Daze are Australia’s Pond, who will hopefully be playing some songs off their forthcoming new LP.

Honeyblood, Jay Som @ Baby’s All Right
UK duo Honeyblood are on tour in support of their new LP Babes Never Die and play tonight with Polyvinyl-signed opener Jay Som.

Suzanne Vega @ Joe’s Pub
Suzanne Vega just released Lover, Beloved: Songs From An Evening With Carson McCullers, all songs she wrote for her off-Broadway play about her love for the writer Carson McCullers. This is her second of two consecutive nights at Joe’s Pub.

Local Natives, Charlotte Day Wilson @ Terminal 5
Local Natives’ new music isn’t quite as interesting as their debut album was, but they remain popular. Tonight’s their second of two shows at the big Terminal 5 with Charlotte Day Wilson, who was on the Badbadnotgood album earlier this year.

Garrett Klahn (of Texas is the Reason), High Disciple (also mem of TITR) @ Mercury Lounge
Texas is the Reason frontman Garrett Klahn recently released a folky solo album, and now he’s on a tour which includes some pretty cool openers varying by city. This show is part of a three-night run with his former TITR bandmate Chris Daly’s dub band High Disciple, which also includes a former member of Lifetime.

Henry Rollins (spoken word) @ The Space at Westbury
“On this tour, fans can expect Henry to mix timely commentary on the current state of politics with anecdotes on his latest L.A. experiences, to perspective gained from his extensive world travels.”
