You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

The Tallest Man On Earth & yMusic @ Pioneer Works
After first collaborating at Eaux Claires Music Festival in 2015, indie-folk singer The Tallest Man on Earth and the yMusic ensemble released a collaborative EP this year. It features orchestral reworkings of old Tallest Man songs and a Joan Baez cover. Tonight and tomorrow, they’ll perform together once again, this time in Brooklyn.

Bing & Ruth, Arone Dyer’s Dronechoir @ Le Poisson Rouge
Having just played Basilica Soundscape, ambient ensemble Bing & Ruth play NYC tonight with Arone Dyer of Buke & Gase. Earlier this year, they released No Home of the Mind, their first album for 4AD.

Le1f, Teengirl Fantasy, Gooddroid @ Brooklyn Bazaar
NYC rapper Le1f hasn’t released new music in a while but he always puts on unforgettable live shows. Direct support comes from dance duo Teengirl Fantasy.

The Barr Brothers @ Rockwood Music Hall
Montreal’s The Barr Brothers make unique folk rock, thanks in part to their very inventive harpist. They’re best experienced live and tonight’s show is free. RSVP is closed but there will be “limited additional admittance at the door.”

Tei Shi, Lawrence Rothman @ Music Hall of Williamsburg
Lawrence Rothman (aka former Living Things frontman Lillian Berlin) makes highly theatrical rock, and his new album is a showcase for his “nine different alters,” one of which will be opening for Tae Shi tonight.

Shilpa Ray, Bodega, Kyle Avallone @ Pianos
Shilpa Ray celebrates the release of her new album Door Girl at the club where she was in fact a door girl.

Wovenhand, Subrosa, Nathaniel Shannon & The Vanishing Twin @ Saint Vitus
Two bands with one foot in folk music and one foot in metal, Wovenhand and Subrosa, are on the road together now. Wovenhand are supporting last year’s Star Treatment and Subrosa are supporting last year’s For This We Fought the Battle of Ages.

Weeping Icon, Chat Logs, Heaven’s Gate, Brandy @ Secret Project Robot
Brooklyn’s dark, snarling Weeping Icon celebrate the vinyl release of their new EP tonight with a pretty great undercard, too (including Brandy which has members of much-missed Brooklyn band Pampers).

Seun Kuti & Egypt 80, Super Yamba Band feat. Kaleta @ Brooklyn Bowl
The youngest son of the late Fela Kuti, Seun who, at age 14, took over as singer of Egypt 80 when his father died in 1997.

RVIVR, Adult Magic, Freezing Cold, Hard Pass @ Sunnyvale
RVIVR, the melodic punk band co-fronted by ex-Latterman member Matt Canino and Erica Freas (who’s also a solo artist), are working on a followup to 2013’s The Beauty Between. While we wait for that, they’ve been playing some shows.

Grateful DJead Night with Ice Petal Flowers (live), Conrad Doucette (DJ), Scott Devendorf (DJ), Bradley Goodman (DJ) @ Threes Brewing
The recurring Grateful DJead Night happens again at Threes Brewing tonight, with The National’s Scott Devendorf and fellow Day of the Dead contributor Conrad Doucette among the DJ lineup. There’s also a live set by Dead tribute band Ice Petal Flowers.
