Alt-country/folk/blues singer/songwriter William Elliott Whitmore is following 2015's Radium Death (ANTI-) with a covers album, Kilonova, on September 7 via Bloodshot Records (pre-order). He takes on songs by The Magnetic Fields, Bad Religion, ZZ Top, Johnny Cash, Bill Withers, Captain Beefheart and more, and we're premiering his cover of The Magnetic Fields' "Fear of Trains." William takes the indie rock song and turns it into a somber, bare-bones, twangy folk song that's miles away from the original but still retains some of its same charms. It's very worth hearing, as you can do for yourself below. You can check out the full tracklist below too.

William is also touring with fellow Bloodshot artists Murder By Death (who have a new album coming in August), and those dates are listed below.

Fear of Trains (Magnetic Fields)
Busted (Harlan Howard)
Don’t Pray on Me (Bad Religion)
Hot Blue and Righteous (ZZ Top)
Five Feet High and Rising (Johnny Cash)
Ain’t No Sunshine (Bill Withers)
One Glass at a Time (Red Meat)
Run Johnny Run (Jimmy Driftwood)
Country Blues (Dock Boggs)
Bat Chain Puller (Captain Beefheart)
