William Elliott Whitmore releasing covers album (hear his Magnetic Fields cover)

Alt-country/folk/blues singer/songwriter William Elliott Whitmore is following 2015’s Radium Death (ANTI-) with a covers album, Kilonova, on September 7 via Bloodshot Records (pre-order). He takes on songs by The Magnetic Fields, Bad Religion, ZZ Top, Johnny Cash, Bill Withers, Captain Beefheart and more, and we’re premiering his cover of The Magnetic Fields’ “Fear of Trains.” William takes the indie rock song and turns it into a somber, bare-bones, twangy folk song that’s miles away from the original but still retains some of its same charms. It’s very worth hearing, as you can do for yourself below. You can check out the full tracklist below too.

William is also touring with fellow Bloodshot artists Murder By Death (who have a new album coming in August), and those dates are listed below.
