Williamsburg venue Black Bear Bar closed

Black Bear Bar, the motorcycle and skateboard themed Williamsburg bar/venue that took over the Public Assembly space (which was Galapagos before that), has closed. From their Facebook:

After many wonderful years being a part of the Brooklyn community, we must unfortunately announce that Black Bear Bar is now closed for business. We thank all those who worked towards and supported our establishment and hope to be able to continue to contribute to this incredible neighborhood. We thank you Brooklyn!

Shows were never the focus at Black Bear Bar the way they were at Public Assembly — the half-pipe in the front of the bar got most of the attention — and they came under fire earlier this year for hosting an Oi skinhead fest that got all their Northside shows canceled.

North 6th Street Black Bear was on has changed a lot in the last five years. What do you think will go in its space next?
