Woods & Dungen releasing collaborative record (listen to "Turn Around")

You may recall that Dungen’s Gustav Ejstes and Reine Fiske, and Woods’ Jeremy Earl and Jarvis Tavenier were the Recording Artists in Residence at the 2017 edition of Marfa Myths festival. The fruits of that collaboration will be released as a 7-song 12″ as part of Mexican Summer’s “Myths” series. Javis says of the experience:

My favorite memories of the experience aren’t even from recording, but I think they really set up my state of mind for the whole trip. One was that first morning in the house where everyone – Woods, Dungen, Mexican Summer folks and their families – was staying, just drinking coffee and staring out the window across the desert, slightly blinded by the sun but still able to make out the silhouettes of kids playing outside. The other was watching porn in the local movie theater with what felt like the entire town. Two totally disparate moments, but they both gave me a really strong sense of community.

It’s out March 16 via Mexican Summer and you can listen to the lovely “Turn Around” — which really sounds like a meeting of Woods and Dungen’s styles in one smoothy, groovy, slightly spaghetti western-vibed song — below.

Marfa Myths 2018 happens in April in Marfa TX and Bradford Cox and Cate Le Bon are this year’s Recording Artists in Residence which sounds like a fruitful pairing.
