Woods & Ultimate Painting wrapped up their tour at Music Hall of Williamsburg with 75 Dollar Bill (pics)

Woods’ tour with Ultimate Painting wrapped up on Saturday, May 7 at Music Hall of Williamsburg. Both bands share a similar musical outlook, making for a great night of mostly mellow vibes and intertwined guitars. Woods has an expanded lineup for this tour, with two drummers and Kyle Forester (Crystal Stilts/Ladybug Transistor) on keys and sax (and jokes during tune-up breaks). They also had a trumpet player come out for the horn-ier songs from their new album City Sun Eater in the River of Light, which sounded terrific (as did their whole set).

Ultimate Painting played a number of new songs from their third album, which hasn’t been officially announced yet but will apparently be out this fall, and for set-closer “Ten Street” most of Woods came out to join the band onstage. UP’s Jack Cooper returned the favor by coming out for Woods’ final song, their cover of Graham Nash’s “Military Madness.” You can tell these two bands got along on the road and it made for a very satisfying show.
