...I then made my way across the water via the L in search of the Brooklyn Bowl to check super-duper Portland buzz group YACHT. While it would be easy to toss YACHT under the burgeoning umbrella of electro dance-pop, Jona Bechtolt and Claire L. Evans take the genre to a whole different level with a visual presence that channels David Byrne, Annie Lennox and Odelay-era Beck. Behind massive hooks that might be best described as Young Marble Giants as the Delta 5 having a fistfight on steroids and speed, YACHT revved the 300-plus audience to a fever pitch with robotic gyrations and moon-walking grace.
