Yasiin Bey (Mos Def) played Chicago (pics), talked about why he doesn't live in the US anymore in new interview (watch)

Yasiin Bey, fka Mos Def, recently wrapped up a run of US dates, including a show in Chicago with Malik Yusef, Abel Black and Ty Money. We caught that show, and pictures from it are in this post.

Now that the tour’s over, Mos Def is presumably back in South Africa, where he lives now. He recently gave an interview with Beats by Dre where he talks about why he doesn’t want to live in America anymore. He says he finds it difficult to be productive here, “given the social, political, and economic climate.” He also talks in the interview about the way people perceive him, and how it’s unrealistic to expect his political views and the way his music sounds to the same now as it was over 15 years ago. At the very end, he mentions showing a new song he worked on to Kanye West, and getting his approval. Watch the video of that interview, with more pictures from Chicago, below.
