More of Cake Shop’s 10th anniversary “super shows” have been announced. Next Friday (5/22) it’ll be Condo Fucks (aka Yo La Tengo in cover band mode), plus a couple more veteran NY-area indie rock acts, Antietam and Speed the Plough (which counts Feelies drummer Stanley Demeski as a member). Tickets are on sale now. (Will advance tickets for Cake Shop be a regular thing? They did finally redo their website.)

Then on Saturday, May 22 it’s a bunch of Cake Shop faves: Juan Wauters, Air Waves, My Teenage Stride, Green Pages, and Paper Fleet. That show is $10 at the door. Flyers below.

As mentioned, this Friday (May 15) is Obnox and the bill now also includes PC Worship, Rips and Endless Boogie. No advance tickets for that one. On Saturday night (5/16) it’s Nude Beach, OCDPP (aka OJ from Xray Eyeballs, Cassie Ramone and Dee Dee of Dum Dum Girls), Weird Womb, Cold Waste and Young Ruins. Both of those shows are $10 at the door.

The final weekend of super shows (May 29 & 30) will be announced on Friday, but the last night of the month (Sunday, May 31) is a staff party that’s open to everyone.

Not a “super show” but interesting: Mary Epworth, sister of Paul Epworth (producer of Adele, Bloc Party & more) plays Cake Shop on May 24 with Dominique Leone, Thomas Dimuzio, and Nick Didkovsky. You can check out the video for Mary Epworth’s “Long Gone” below. And don’t forget that Cake Shop will also host NYC Popfest on May 28 with Beverly, Young Romace, Wildhoney Roman a Clef, and Souvinir Stand (tickets).
