Young Widows & Pygmy Lush played Saint Vitus (pics)
After Refused at Terminal 5 (pictures), I headed to Greenpoint to try and catch the tail end of the Young Widows/Pygmy Lush/Primitive Weapons show at Saint Vitus Monday night (4/23). Though I missed Primitive Weapons entirely, I arrived just in time for the first song of Pygmy Lush, catching all of their set before Young Widows took the stage a little before midnight.
Young Widows played mostly older material but with some new songs mixed in. No word on a home for the new material, but it definitely had that latter-Young Widows post-punk meets gothic noise-rock feel. The band played with no house lighting whatsoever, counting on their own rigs built into their guitar cabinets for stage lighting and using those to punctuate moments within the songs.
The bands played at the exact time that Refused was taking the stage at Acheron. Pictures from Saint Vitus are below...
