Yusuf Cat Stevens

Yusuf/Cat Stevens touring, including first NYC shows since 1976

Back in 2014, Yusuf / Cat Stevens went on a tour that would’ve included his first NYC show since 1976 but he cancelled it because the state of NY wouldn’t allow him to sell paperless tickets. Now he has a new tour announced — which is dubbed A Cat’s Attic, “will feature a limited run of stripped-down, introspective performances,” and celebrates the 50th anniversary of his first single, 1966’s “I Love My Dog” — that’s once again set to hit NYC.

The shows here happen September 19 and 20 at Beacon Theatre, which is a few days before he makes a “special appearance” at Global Citizen Fest in Central Park (9/24). A fan club presale begins at www.catstevens.com on Thusday (8/11) at 10 AM local time, and tickets go on sale to the general public Monday (8/15) at 10 AM.

“A portion of every ticket sold (a minimum of $6 per ticket) and the proceeds from VIP packages available for sale will benefit the most vulnerable through long term support to build sustainable futures for children and families. Through Small Kindness, Yusuf’s UK founded charity donations will be made to both UNICEF and the International Rescue Committee to help children affected by the current refugee and migrant crisis.”
