Zaum releasing ‘Divination’ (stream the very trippy “Pantheon”)
Canada's Zaum make Eastern-tinged psychedelic doom that's earned them plenty of Om comparisons, and they're gearing up to release their third album Divination on May 10 via Listenable Records in North America (and April 26 in Europe). Previously the duo of Kyle Alexander Mcdonald (on vocals, bass, and textures) and Christopher Lewis (drums, percussion), they've now added visual performance artist Nawal Doucette who will join them at their upcoming shows (they're on tour in Europe as we speak). The new album has just three lengthy tracks, and we're premiering the shortest one, "Pantheon," which clocks in at nine minutes. The Om comparisons are strong on this one too, but Zaum make it their own, and anyone whose taste leans on the trippy side should check this out. The band tells us "'Pantheon' touches on the reality of a lost religion from a period in time - one which may have been closer to the truth than anyone had been aware." Listen below, and if you like what you hear, you can pre-order the LP.
